Beyond Diodes and Data: An AIA Lunch Lecture

SCI Innovation Center & SCI’s Irvine Headquarters

Wednesday, June 19th & Thursday, June 20th

Course Description:

LIGHTING TODAY discusses key issues in the application of current LED lighting technology. What is new in architectural lighting…and how can we continue to use our well earned lighting experience to enhance interior spaces.

To explore these questions, we look at lighting techniques, assessing LED luminaires, product selection, and basic design tools.

While we offer specific technical information, this presentation looks to design impact more than just “data and diodes.”

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply architectural lighting techniques
  • Compare LED luminaires to conventional versions
  • Select luminaires in terms of scale, distribution, color & light output
  • Locate recessed downlights for effective illumination
  • Estimate lighting levels in basic applications
